Last year, seven EkkoSense colleagues completed Pedal Paddle Peak challenge – raising valuable funds for the charity. In 2024 they are going even further, with EkkoSense members signing up for the London to Paris bike ride, a remarkable event aimed at raising funds for Action Medical Research. This year’s ride, taking place from June 13 – 16, will see a dedicated team of twelve EkkoSense members cycling 369 kilometers over three days to support a cause that is transforming the lives of children through groundbreaking medical research. JSA is proud to sponsor the dedicated EkkoSense dedicated team and be part of this incredible initiative.
Action Medical Research is a leading UK-wide charity dedicated to saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. Over the past 65 years, the charity has spearheaded numerous medical advancements, including the development of ultrasound, the fight against polio in the UK, and crucial research into treatments for meningitis and stillbirth prevention. Their ongoing work is essential in developing new treatments and cures for sick and disabled babies and children. The funds raised by the EkkoSense team will go directly to Action Medical Research, supporting essential research that leads to medical breakthroughs and life-saving treatments for children. This financial support is critical for the charity to continue its mission and improve the lives of many young patients.
The Journey Ahead
The EkkoSense team has been training extensively, with a goal of raising at least £10,000 for Action Medical Research. The ride kicks off with a sign-on event on Wednesday, June 12th, at Imber Court Sports Club, followed by an early start on Thursday morning. The team will cycle from Hampton Court, along part of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race route, to the coast and cross the English Channel that evening. On Friday, the riders will embark on their first full day of cycling in France, continuing through the picturesque French countryside. Saturday marks the final leg to Paris, culminating at the iconic Eiffel Tower finish line. On Sunday, June 16th, riders will return to London via Eurostar, with a coach transfer back to Imber Court. The route includes rolling road closures in France and traffic calming measures in the UK, ensuring a fully supported experience with comprehensive assistance for all 350 riders across five ability groups.
