The Greener Data Exchange returned this year with the kind of energy that reminds us why this community matters.
Held during International Telecoms Week, the event brought together leaders across digital infrastructure, data centers, telecom, cloud, energy, sustainability and AI for an evening of connection and conversation. But more than a networking reception, the Greener Data Exchange served as a reflection of where the industry is today: facing enormous growth, rising power demand and increasing climate accountability, while also showing a shared willingness to collaborate on what comes next.
From the signature greener martinis to conversations overlooking the Potomac, the evening created space for the industry to step away from packed meeting schedules and talk more openly about the future we are all helping to build.
A Community Built Around Action
Greener Data has always been more than a book series. It is a platform for ideas and cross-industry collaboration.
This year’s Exchange continued that mission by bringing together contributors, partners, clients, readers and industry peers who are actively working through some of the most important questions facing digital infrastructure:
- How do we support the rapid growth of AI while being realistic about power, water and land use?
- How do we move sustainability from ambition to implementation?
- How do we make sure communities are part of the conversation as new infrastructure is developed?
- And how do we continue building a digital future that is not only more connected, but more responsible?
These are not simple questions, and they will not be solved by one company, one event or one book. But the Greener Data Exchange is a reminder that progress often starts with bringing the right people into the same room.
Celebrating Greener Data Volume Three
The event also served as a celebration of Greener Data, Volume Three, which launched on Earth Day 2026 and is now available in print, Kindle and audiobook formats.
This latest volume brings together insights from more than 75 voices across the global digital infrastructure ecosystem, with chapters exploring AI, energy, innovation, climate accountability, data center development, community engagement and the evolving relationship between technology and sustainability.
As AI continues to reshape infrastructure demand, Greener Data, Volume Three arrives at a critical moment. The conversations happening across the industry are becoming more urgent, more complex and more interconnected. The book captures that moment by offering real perspectives from the people working directly within it.
Signed by the Voices Behind the Book
A special highlight of the evening was having several Greener Data authors in attendance to sign copies of the book. Guests had the opportunity to meet contributors, hear more about the ideas behind their chapters and take home a copy signed by some of the voices helping shape the conversation around sustainable digital infrastructure.
It added a personal touch to the celebration and reinforced what makes the Greener Data series so powerful: it is not just a collection of chapters, but a community of leaders, innovators and advocates working toward a more sustainable digital future.
Supporting Telecom Sans Frontières
This year’s Greener Data activation also included an opportunity to support Telecom Sans Frontières, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency telecommunications and connectivity support in crisis zones around the world.
Guests were invited to take home a complimentary copy of Greener Data, Volume Three and, if they wished, make a donation in support of TSF’s mission.
It was a meaningful way to connect the Greener Data conversation back to the broader purpose of digital infrastructure: keeping people connected when it matters most.
The Greener Data Hotline
One of the most memorable activations this year was the Greener Data Hotline, featuring recordable phones placed throughout the ITW expo hall, including the Greener Data Exchange event.
Guests were invited to pick up the phone and share their thoughts on the future of greener digital infrastructure, from the biggest sustainability challenges facing the industry to the innovations giving them hope.
The hotline added a fun, interactive element to the Exchange while capturing something deeper: the real voices of the community. These reflections will help continue the conversation beyond the event and bring more perspectives into the Greener Data movement.
Powering Change, City by City
The Greener Data Exchange was also part of a larger Greener Data book tour, bringing the conversation to key industry events and cities around the world.
Each stop on the tour features a different Greener Data activation, from author signings and community gatherings to creative ways of sparking dialogue around sustainability, AI and the future of digital infrastructure.
The goal is simple: keep the conversation moving.
Because the future of greener data will not be shaped in one place. It will be shaped city by city, event by event and conversation by conversation by the people who are building the infrastructure behind our increasingly digital world.
Thank You to the Greener Data Community
To everyone who joined us at the Greener Data Exchange, contributed to the book, picked up a copy, signed copies, donated to Telecom Sans Frontières, shared a thought through the Greener Data Hotline or simply stopped by to be part of the conversation: thank you.
The digital infrastructure industry is growing quickly, and the challenges ahead are significant. But events like this show that the community is not only paying attention. It is showing up, asking better questions and looking for ways to move forward together.
That is what Greener Data is all about.
