As the threats facing our digital landscape evolve rapidly, data security is at the forefront of the minds of consumers and enterprises alike. Data centers, which facilitate much of the convenience of our modern world, are responsible for so many aspects of our lives, including keeping financial and other confidential information private. Achieving the highest levels of certification for security and compliance allows for organizations to protect and manage sensitive data with peace of mind.
TELEHOUSE America, a leading global provider of carrier-neutral data centers and a subsidiary of KDDI Corporation, just achieved Service Organization Control 1 (SOC 1) Type II and Service Organization Control for Service Organizations (SOC 2) Type II certification (attestation). The audit, performed by KirkpatrickPrice, underscores TELEHOUSE America’s dedication to offering high-quality services and delivering the highest possible standards for data security protocols, internal controls, and processes.
“As a one-stop shop for colocation, connectivity, and more, we handle a variety of workloads and sensitive information for our clients,” said Milad Abdelmessih, Vice President of Business Development, Marketing and Sales for KDDI America and TELEHOUSE America. “It’s imperative that we deliver an efficient and comprehensive end-to-end digital transformation journey to our customers. That’s why we’re dedicated to offering best-in-class security, support, and trust-based services from the data center to our customers’ customers — the completion of the journey. Having achieved both certifications, our clients can be assured that TELEHOUSE America meets and maintains the highest standards, and that they can rely on our processes and protocols to safely and securely manage their data.”
Protecting Consumer Information
During the SOC 1 and SOC 2 audit, TELEHOUSE America’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR), as well as non-financial reporting controls, were tested. The reports verified the suitability of the design and operational effectiveness of TELEHOUSE America’s security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy controls and confirmed their processes meet the standards stipulated by the AICPA and SSAE 18.
“Many of TELEHOUSE America’s clients rely on them to protect consumer information,” said Joseph Kirkpatrick, President of KirkpatrickPrice. “As a result, TELEHOUSE America has implemented best-practice controls demanded by their clients to address information security and compliance risks. Our third-party opinion validates these controls, and the tests we perform assure TELEHOUSE America’s clients.”
