Since its creation in 1998, Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) has responded to over 140 humanitarian crises in more than 70 countries – providing communication means to over 20 million people and nearly 1,000 NGOs. Yet, the organization’s efforts do not stop there. TSF also develops, adapts and makes available innovative and cost-effective solutions to assist migrants, refugees, displaced people and other disadvantaged communities in different areas, including education, healthcare, women’s rights and food security.
This week, TSF launched a crowdfunding, fundraising effort to provide digital education to Syrian refugee children.
The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly limited educational opportunities for everyone, but especially these children. Nearly half don’t have access to basic education and cannot speak Turkish which makes the challenge of finding quality education almost impossible. TSF aims to create a welcoming, engaging environment for these children to learn digital and soft skills, while improving their self-esteem. An environment of creation, collaboration, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, where they can leave behind the horrors of the war and start a new life. Even during COVID-19, they continue to learn remotely, thanks to the provision of tablets, internet data packages and an online platform.
TSF has pledged to match all donations that are made by September 23rd, so donate and help these children take the first step towards leading successful lives filled with opportunities. The campaign concludes September 30th.
