Lightpath Miami Boosts Connectivity with RapidPath Dark Fiber Service & On-Net Data Center Expansion

New Milestone Adds 8 On-Net Data Centers, 15 Miles of Fiber Network Expansion, and a Five Day Dark Fiber Deployment Service

Lightpath, an all-fiber, infrastructure-based connectivity provider that is revolutionizing how organizations connect to their digital destinations, announced an aggressive expansion in the Greater Miami region. This expansion will encompass 15 miles of new fiber network, adding connectivity to eight new data centers, and introducing a brand new dark fiber service, RapidPath, to the area’s data centers.

By the end of 2024, Lightpath’s Miami network will connect to a total of 12 on-net data centers. The new RapidPath service will provide Miami data centers with an ultra-fast deployment of dark fiber, significantly reducing deployment to as little as five days. Aimed at meeting the increased demand driven by AI and cloud services, the pre-sliced inter-data center fiber will quickly meet evolving needs. Adding to this growth, Lightpath is further enhancing its network reach by building a new expansion of a high-fiber count, subterranean network toward North Miami Beach and west to Miami Gardens spanning an additional 15 miles.

Chris Morley, Lightpath CEO, shares his enthusiasm for the expansion, noting the rising demand for robust data center connectivity in Miami. “Lightpath is seeing increased demand in the Miami region for data center connectivity, both data center to data center, and commercial buildings to data centers. Both types of demand are being driven by the surge in artificial intelligence (AI) and the need for direct connectivity to cloud providers. Our new RapidPath service is just another way that Lightpath is meeting the evolving demands of hyperscalers and other large organizations who need ways to scale quickly to meet the dynamics of the market.”

Beyond Miami, RapidPath is also available in the New York Metro and Greater Boston areas to support data center connections that power the needs of hyperscalers, government agencies, enterprises, educators, and beyond. To date, Lightpath offers connectivity to over 140 data centers, seven cable landing stations, and direct connectivity to all major cloud providers at various interconnect locations.
