Exceeding Expectations Across All Fronts
With a goal of raising money and awareness to support children with congenital heart defects and their families, Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation has raised nearly $450,000 from its inaugural ‘A Mighty Night’ gala. The amount completely exceeded expectations, providing a strong financial platform for the non-profit to achieve its goal of significantly expanding the number of families it can provide grants to each year. Attendees of the sold-out, black-tie event had a fabulous night of food, dancing, live auction, boutique pop-up shop, and raffle. They also were honored by a special guest video by none other than late-night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel! Check out Kimmel’s video message of support where he praised the work of the MOHF and encouraged participants to donate, recalling the life-saving surgery his son received shortly after being born with a congenital heart defect. THANK YOU JIMMY KIMMEL!!!
In addition, during the ‘A Mighty Night’ gala’s live auction, one of the event participants, pediatric anesthesiologist Dr. Timothy Welch, won tickets to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, which were donated by Mr. Kimmel in the run-up to the event. The show will truly be an amazing experience and a wonderful way to continue telling the MOHF story and drive further awareness.
Across America, roughly 40,000 babies are born each year with heart defects and well over one million children currently live with these challenging conditions. The MOHF works to provide critical financial support and comfort that enables families to focus on the love that empowers them to face the fight and focus on healing. “We were absolutely stunned at the generosity poured out by the St. Louis community, Jimmy Kimmel, and our sponsors,” says Brittney Weis, Director of Development at the MOHF. “Going into the event, we felt that we would be lucky to raise even half as much we did. The $450,000 we raised this year is a huge milestone for us, and we are already working with our partners to put it to good use providing much-needed grants to families in need. We want to thank everyone who played a role in making our ‘A Mighty Night’ gala a success and, in the coming days, we plan to show this gratitude in a creative way.”
