We are excited to celebrate not one but two outstanding individuals at EdgeConneX. Angela Capon, Senior Director of Global Marketing, and Phillip Marangella, CMO, were honored at the 2021 iMasons Awards ceremony.
With a mission based on taking care of its Customers | People | Planet, the EdgeConneX team strives to ‘Empower the Edge’ and do so with a purpose. The company pioneered the edge over ten years ago and has been on a significant growth and leadership trajectory ever since. Their team’s mindful focus includes:
- Developing the data center solutions and tools its customers need in the locations they want.
- A vision to develop a diverse, inclusive, empowered workforce.
- A commitment to improving the impacts EdgeConneX facilities have on the land, the resources, and the communities they serve.
Angela Capon – 2021 iM100 Award: These awards recognize those individuals that inspire future generations to pursue technical careers and those who are making a difference in digital infrastructure. Angela is in some great company, as collectively, the 2021 IM100 winners span 15 countries and 71 different companies. Angela was honored for her work in leading a grassroots initiative, WomenConneX, that grew into a company- and industry-wide opportunity for women to share experiences, opportunities, collaboration, and teamwork inside a global high-technology organization.
Phillip Marangella – 2021 iMason’s Diversity and Inclusions Champion Award: This award recognizes an individual who has made a sustained contribution to Diversity and Inclusion in the digital infrastructure industry. Infrastructure Masons’s motto is a commitment to expanding diversity and inclusion by promoting a culture of awareness in our industry. Phillip has leveraged his experience in the telecommunications and data center industries to accelerate, empower and provide opportunities for young people, women, veterans, and those with diverse backgrounds to receive the training, resources, guidance, and support they need to enter this essential industry.
This past year, Phillip led and helped forge a path for a new Capstone Project aimed at training, mentoring, and recruiting a more diverse workforce. In collaboration with Infrastructure Masons and other organizations, EdgeConneX partners with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to host a year-long Digital Infrastructure-focused project. This crucial program aims to encourage participation in STEM programs and create a pipeline of diverse candidates for internships and full-time positions. His efforts on the Capstone Project were also recognized by iMasons as a joint-winner of the 2021 Education Champion Award, along with Chheng Lim, Associate at Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects, and Bill Kleyman, EVP of Digital Solutions at Switch.
In addition, Phillip has led the company’s collaboration with organizations such as Salute Mission Critical to train veterans for data center careers around the globe. As Phillip noted, Salute affords EdgeConneX the operational consistency needed across its global data centers. It exemplifies a powerful, symbiotic partnership in which they gain rewarding skills that help them launch a second career. He is also a strong mentor and ally for the WomenConneX employee resource group.
With deep dedication, Angela and Phillip both give their time, support, ideas, and leadership to drive positive change within the industry. Both embody the very best of EdgeConneX’s Customers, People, Planet vision of a modern enterprise.
All in all, there’s no question about the level of work, collaboration, and leadership of these two stellar individuals. The iMasons awards are a fantastic way to wrap up this very eventful year. Please join us in congratulating Angela and Phillip. Cheers!
