Iceotope Announces the Retirement of CEO David Craig

After nine years leading Iceotope, CEO David Craig has announced his retirement from the Precision Liquid Cooling company. Craig will step down from his position on September 30, 2024, after leading Iceotope through significant growth, advancement and global recognition.

Craig joined Iceotope in 2015 with a vision to position the company as a leader in sustainable cooling solutions for data centers. Over his tenure, Craig has successfully guided Iceotope through rapid growth and technology advancements. Under Craig’s leadership, Iceotope achieved several significant milestones:

  • Successfully positioned Iceotope’s Precision Liquid Cooling as a leading solution in the market, known for its efficiency and sustainability.
  • Scaled the company to meet the increasing market demand, expanding its worldwide footprint.
  • Secured investment from a consortium of international investors, including ABC Impact, British Patient Capital, Northern Gritstone, nVent, and SDCL, ensuring the company’s continued growth and innovation.

Craig’s service has been marked by a commitment to engineering practical solutions for emerging challenges such as AI, distributed telco edge, and high-pperformance computing. Iceotope’s technology is notable for removing nearly 100% of the heat generated by data centers, reducing energy use by up to 40%, and eliminating water consumption, making it a critical player in the drive towards sustainable data center operations.

“The past nine years have been an amazing ride – we have built a fantastic team, developed a great IP portfolio and created the only liquid cooling solution that addresses the thermal and sustainability challenges facing the data center industry today and tomorrow,” Craig said. “I have enjoyed every moment and have nothing but pride in the team, company and product.”

“On behalf of everyone at Iceotope, we thank David for his dedication and endless enthusiasm for the company, the technology, and the people who make it all possible,” said Iceotope’s Chairman, George Shaw. “We know he will be a tremendous brand ambassador for Precision Liquid Cooling in the years to come. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

Transition and Future Leadership

As Craig steps down, Iceotope will be jointly led by Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Nathan Blom and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Simon Jesenko on an interim basis. Blom brings several years of leadership experience from his roles at Lenovo and HP. Jesenko’s expertise in deeptech finance will be a valuable asset during the interim period.

David Craig will continue to advise the company and assist during the transition, ensuring a seamless handover and ongoing success. The search for a permanent CEO is underway, with the new leadership expected to build on Craig’s already successful positioning of Iceotope as a global leader in Precision Liquid Cooling.

“It feels like now is an appropriate time for me to step aside, enjoy retirement, and focus on other passions in my life, particularly my charitable work in the UK and Africa,” Craig said. “I look forward to seeing the future success of Iceotope and can’t wait to see what comes next.”

From the cloud to the edge, Iceotope’s technology ensures the entire IT stack remains cool and functioning with rack-based designs that offer unmatched sustainability, scalability, and serviceability. To learn more about Iceotope, visit www.iceotope.com.
