Horizon Completes New Fiber Optic Network in Dayton, Ohio

Making sure as many people and businesses as possible have access to game-changing, mission-critical connectivity will never be a set-and-forget task. Across the U.S., extending powerful networking into new and underserved areas requires a constant evolution and expansion process. Luckily, local partners like Horizon, a Midwest fiber-optic company, are on the job, increasing their fiber optic footprint on behalf of customers and communities across Ohio and beyond. Most recently, the company was excited to announce the completion of its fiber optic network expansion in Dayton, Ohio.

“We couldn’t be more proud to support the digital and communications-based business demands that are evolving and proliferating rapidly across this region. Meeting the needs of our communities is a core dedication for Horizon, and as a trusted local partner, we have no doubt that this network will help customers flourish as they achieve their business goals,” notes Glenn Lytle, CRO of Horizon. “Of course, this accomplishment could not have been achieved without the fantastic collaboration we’ve experienced from the Dayton community and the Dayton Development Coalition. We look forward to seeing how this densified network foundation and reliable connectivity serve this community and deliver even more transformational growth opportunities.”

Tying into Horizon’s existing 6,000 route miles of fiber serving Ohio and surrounding states, this network build is designed to deliver crucial fiber solutions like Ethernet, Internet, hosted voice, wavelength, dark fiber, and data center connectivity to support verticals like healthcare, government, and higher education. Along with this, Horizon unveils the addition of its local enterprise sales team, which is dedicated to specifically service Dayton’s regional business community.

With this project officially launched and live, users will benefit from robust connectivity and valuable network service availability across downtown, mid-town, inner-east, and south Dayton, as well as around the University. First announced in October 2020, this Ohio build is purpose-built to provision an industry-leading 99.999% uptime result and reliable, high-speed, secure connections — all while providing route protection and equipment resiliency within Horizon’s core network.

“It’s exciting to see continued investments in the Dayton Region, particularly fiber infrastructure,” states Jeff Hoagland, President and CEO of Dayton Development Coalition. “Investments such as this will further position the area for growth and help attract new organizations to our region.”
