Globalinx is transforming global telecommunications with its new cable landing station (CLS) project in Virginia Beach, VA. Scheduled to be ready for service by March 31, 2025, the facility will provide a cutting-edge solution for subsea cable connectivity, supporting up to four next-generation cables with a combined capacity of up to 1,600 Tbps.

The Virginia Beach CLS offers a turnkey infrastructure solution, from ocean bore pipes to the fully operational landing station. Built using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to ensure minimal environmental impact, the project has successfully navigated four years of regulatory and environmental hurdles. This carrier-neutral hub will enhance global connectivity while supporting tenants with both dark and lit fiber options.
Strategically positioned as the closest landing point to Ashburn, VA—the world’s data center capital—the CLS will provide an unmatched latency advantage, making it a critical link in the global digital ecosystem.

Virginia Beach provides proximity to major regional industries, including government, defense, enterprise, health care, and education. The new CLS is part of a hybrid campus that integrates data center capabilities and aside from its 11-acre campus, can support future expansion with capacity for up to 1 million square feet of additional data center space.
“As AI and cloud applications drive unprecedented demand for high-capacity, low-latency infrastructure, Globalinx is now poised to meet these challenges. Our Virginia Beach expansion represents the future of global connectivity. This new infrastructure strengthens Virginia Beach’s role as a hub for global digital connectivity.” – Globalinx CEO, Greg Twitt
The CLS campus will also feature a satellite teleport gateway, supporting diverse customer needs and aligning with nearby green energy initiatives like offshore wind projects. To learn more about Globalinx new state of the art CLS, visit www.globalinxdatacenters.com and watch the JSA TV interview from PTC ‘25 here.
