EdgeMicro Welcomes New Anchor Tenant at Its Micro Data Centers

EdgeMicro welcomes a new anchor tenant at its existing facilities in Austin, Raleigh and Tampa, as well as more than 30 additional sites across the U.S. Cloudflare, a global cloud services company, is now offering services through the facilities. Because EdgeMicro’s infrastructure is located closer to the end user, the agreement allows Cloudflare customers to receive cloud-based services with much lower latency than traditional centralized peering infrastructure.

As things like 5G, IoT and machine learning increase in popularity, increasing the use of edge computing will become more important to give users the best possible experience.

Edge Micro offers local solutions that are closer to end users, allowing customers to move content and compute resources with less backhaul. Companies can transmit data in a much faster and simpler way because it doesn’t have to travel to peering exchanges across the country. Customers receive an enhanced experience at a lower cost. For companies, like Cloudflare, whose values depend on performance and low latency, selecting an alternative to centralized peering is much more efficient.

“Clients like Cloudflare understand the value we are providing for the Edge, plus, we share the same vision for a better end-user Internet client experience. The collaboration we’ve had over the past several months has been amazing and goes deeper than the typical service provider-client relationship,” said Jason Bourg, VP Sales at EdgeMicro.

“Cloudflare’s mission is to help build a better Internet. This means improving its security, reliability, and performance, which are all directly supported by our work with EdgeMicro. When it comes to edge computing, closer is better. It’s that simple. These implementations will allow us to deliver the benefits of our Edge computing platform, Cloudflare Workers, to our customers exactly where they need them, when they need them, and with the security and performance they require,” said Nitin Rao, Head of Global Infrastructure at Cloudflare.
