Forecasters are carefully monitoring Tropical Storm Douglas which could make landfall in Hawaii early next week as the first hurricane of the season.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 40 percent of businesses do not reopen after a disaster and with hundreds of Hawaiian businesses in the eye of this current storm, failure to put a proactive disaster recovery plan in place could have a devastating impact.
In support of its island businesses, DRFortress, the largest carrier-neutral data center and cloud marketplace operating in Hawaii, has released a Hurricane Preparedness Guide with recommendations to ensure business continuity and the protection of critical infrastructure and physical assets all while keeping employees safe.
“Protecting your critical business infrastructure is key to maintaining business continuity in the event of a disaster, and DRFortress is committed to helping the Hawaiian business community prepare and have peace of mind, not only during hurricane season but year-round,” said Fred Rodi, President and Founder of DRFortress.
The guide features tips to protect your company’s critical data and infrastructure before, during and after the storm, complete with employee training, emergency kit recommendations and printable hurricane preparedness checklists.
DRFortress reviews its own hurricane preparedness checklists and protocols yearly to ensure the data center facility meets and exceeds stringent physical and safety readiness requirements. The company hopes this guide will make the preparation process more accessible to protect Hawaii’s businesses from whatever Mother Nature delivers.
Hurricane Season began June 1 and ends on November 30th.
