DataBank’s SLC5 Data Center Gives Silicon Slopes an Edge

With a colocation and edge infrastructure footprint consisting of 60+ data centers and 20 interconnection hubs in 29 markets, DataBank, offers on-ramps to an ecosystem of cloud providers with virtually unlimited reach. The company has been on a huge growth trajectory this past year and just announced the expansion of its SLC5 data center, which is strategically located at the company’s Granite Point North campus complex in Bluffdale, Utah.

The SLC5 facility in the heart of ‘Silicon Slopes’ and Utah’s growing tech ecosystem was designed to accommodate high-performance computing for content providers, cloud giants, hyperscale providers, and large enterprises. DataBank’s opening of the third data hall at SLC5 brings SLC5’s total to 30,000 square feet of raised flooring and 6 MW of critical IT load.

Key SLC5 Highlights include:

  • Custom-built facility from the ground up
  • 5 data halls each w/10,000 sq ft of raised floor space and 2 MW of UPS
  • Access to DataBank’s own private, onsite, 66 MW N+1 power substation
  • Network connectivity to 12+carriers and cloud providers
  • A full suite of customer amenities and security features
  • HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SSAE-18 SOC1, and SOC2, and GDPR compliant

“This kind of growth in the area is driving the need for colocation, connectivity, and cloud services, making Salt Lake City a prime location for enterprise-class data centers. Unrelenting customer demand is what has led us to continue to add capacity to SLC5 as well as begin planning for SLC6 and SLC7.” –  Danny Allen, DataBank Vice President of Engineering
