For the past 50 years, Earth Day has been celebrated around the globe on April 22, but did you know that many people extend the celebration to make it Earth Week? The theme of Earth Day and Earth Week 2022 is ‘Invest in Our Planet,’ and DataBank is doing its part by joining the Arbor Day Foundation as it initiates Earth Week on April 16 by planting 200 trees as part of the foundation’s Time for Trees initiative.
The Arbor Day Foundation’s Time for Trees initiative addresses the critical loss of forests through active replanting efforts in areas as geographically and biologically diverse as the tropical rain forests and the iconic California national forests. The Foundation’s goal is to plant 100 million trees in forests and communities worldwide. In addition to the tree planting, DataBank will also donate $7,500 to the foundation in congruence with the construction of its 200,000 square foot IAD3 facility in Northern Virginia.
“The Time for Trees initiative is not only increasing awareness around one of the world’s most critical environmental issues, but it is also improving the quality of life for generations to come. We feel honored to support the foundation and this important initiative.” — Raul K. Martynek, DataBank CEO
DataBank’s IAD3 facility will incorporate the latest modular design and energy-efficient technologies available today and demonstrates DataBank’s commitment to building environmentally sustainable data center solutions. An area rich in fiber connectivity and tech talent, Northern Virginia has a high concentration of enterprises, technology, cloud computing, hyperscale cloud providers, and content providers that require dense interconnection and proximity to best-in-class data center infrastructure.
DataBank and its CEO, Raul K. Martynek are passionate about helping the planet through greener business practices.
