MSP3 Facility Features 86K Square Feet of Space to Meet City Demand for Colocation and Cloud Services
Almost exactly a year to the day since announcing plans to expand in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market, DataBank is excited to open the doors to its Minneapolis (MSP3) data center during a grand opening event on Nov. 10.
DataBank officially announced the completion of the MSP3 project in a press release today that gives the latest specs on what will be the company’s fourth data center in Minneapolis:
- 86,000 sq. ft.
- 5MW of critical load power capacity
- Two meet me rooms with multiple network providers
- N+1 Cooling Design
- 7x24x365 security
- Fencing and access control gates
- Dual-factor authentication for data center access
- Security cameras on all doors and common areas
Rising to the Needs of the Fortune 500 Crowd

Located at 8111 Oxbow Creek N in Brooklyn Park, Minn., the data center’s construction is in direct response to the dense infrastructure requirements of hyperscalers, content delivery networks and enterprises—particularly a concentrated number of Fortune 500 companies that call Minneapolis home, alongside major players in the tech, healthcare and research communities. The MSP3 facility is a highly reliable data center with 2N utility, block redundant configuration and can cool up to 105kW of power for each cabinet: key attributes new facilities require as they rise to meet colocation, interconnection and cloud service needs.
“The need for more localized data center infrastructure continues to intensify and edge locations like Minneapolis are seeing increased levels of demand. DataBank is building in strategic increments that can accommodate a wider range of scenarios, while also offering the ability to interconnect with partners and cloud infrastructure platforms,” said Philbert Shih, Managing Director, Structure Research Ltd.
MSP3 represents just the first phase of development on the 14 acres of land that DataBank purchased in Brooklyn Park in 2020. The master plan for this DataBank campus provides up to another 170,000 sq. ft. of data center space and up to an additional 18MW of power in subsequent development phases, providing ample expansion capacity in this key market.
“DataBank continues to see Minneapolis as a fantastic destination for enterprise and technology workloads,” said Raul Martynek, DataBank’s CEO. “The additional capacity that MSP3 provides makes it an ideal location for hyperscale cloud and webscale application and content providers seeking to build a strong edge presence in the market.”
