Nearly one year after the acquisition of Colo Atl by American Tower, key players who have made the transition a success are set to address the acquisition in a panel discussion at the Bisnow Datacenter Investment Conference & Expo (DICE) Southeast 2020 on March 5 in Atlanta.
American Tower, one of the leading operators and developers of wireless infrastructure, acquired Colo Atl last year, making it its first foray into the data center space. John Ghirardelli, General Manager of Colo Atl and Director, U.S. Innovation for American Tower; and Tim Kiser, Founder of Colo Atl and present Consultant, will join a panel discussing the acquisition and the convergence of digital infrastructure.
Data Centers and Digital Infrastructure
The panel, “The Next Wave: The Convergence of Data Centers and Digital Infrastructure,” will cover the symbiotic relationship between cellular towers and data centers. As the rise of 5G paves the way for IoT, smart cities, smart manufacturing and more, the need for providing services closer to end users will grow. In their panel, Ghirardelli and Kiser will discuss the trend between cell towers and data centers, as well as the strategy behind American Tower’s acquisition of Colo Atl. Hunter Newby, Owner, Newby Ventures, will provide insight from an investor’s perspective.
Panel Discussion Points Include:
- The trend of wireless operators exploring data center operations.
- How edge computing increases demand in wireless and data center infrastructure.
- The convergence of data centers and digital infrastructure creating denser networks within cities.
- Integration trends between data centers, telecom towers and antennas.
The panel takes place at 1 p.m.
