Q. For those who may not know, can you share a little back story on the history of Capacity Media’s events?

It’s important to first mention Capacity’s roots as a publication, Capacity Media was established in 2000 as an essential source of news and events in the telecommunications wholesale carrier and service provider marketplace. Building from that platform as an authoritative source of news, analysis, carrier listings and directories, Capacity Media delved into the events space with event brands that the global connectivity community continues to resonate with today. The events include Capacity Europe, which ran its first event back in 2001 and Capacity Middle East five years later, cultivating a C-level connectivity audience for these respective geographic markets. International Telecoms Week (ITW), which celebrated its 15th anniversary last May, is the prime event on industry leaders’ calendars. As the industry has developed, so too have our events.

Q. How does Capacity Europe differ from other events in the Capacity Media line up?

Capacity Europe congregates the global connectivity market and the ICT infrastructure audience, comprising data centre, hyperscaler, content, software communities to network, trade and learn. This year we are set to have over 2,500 attendees from 1,000+ companies, and over 80 speakers across our blended conference program. The growth over the last two decades shows that Capacity Europe is one of the very first names on everyone’s lips when you think of a leading global telecoms event to participate in.

Q. Who would benefit most from attending?

For the carrier industry there tends to be interoperability across the carrier network, anywhere from terminating voice traffic, A2P to subsea and IoT. Entering into a more digital era, these conversations will likely manifest into how do carriers consume each other’s networks and voices as well – whether it be through portals, carrier neutral exchanges etc. So the carrier community will always find value in developing these relationships and expanding service propositions leading into a digital transformation future.

Q. What can a first time attendee expect to gain as key-takeaways from attending?

Capacity Europe is an incredibly enjoyable event to participate in, but also one where you can learn from leading industry stakeholders on what it truly takes in #KeepingTheWorldConnected. Through the initiatives and the onsite point of presence of the ITW’s Global Leaders’ Forum through the GLF Lounge, the conference room, private meeting as well as other more intimate networking events, we’ve established a more calming and considered audience experience. In twine with audience and content features on the Capacity Europe Swapcard app and the event website, the excitement of happy hours, evening cocktails and the Colt Technology Services-hosted Welcome Reception event on Monday, October 17th at 5:30pm BST, at the Riverview Suites, the balanced combination of formal and informal networking surroundings is pitched just right for any first time Capacity Europe event goer wanting that complete blended events experience.

Q. We are so honored to partner with your team for Capacity Europe Xtra Powered by JSA. What inspired this collaboration?

Capacity Europe has long had an association with our media partners, including JSA. We felt working with JSA for Capacity Europe Xtra was the right fit for a new broadcast concept that could provide warmth and depth in the interviews with a variety of event attendees – from speakers, to exhibitors and even our delegates – while remaining fun, exciting and personable. JSA’s professionalism and well-organised approach in the production and content delivery of a rolling digital channel broadcast has made this collaboration a very exciting one. We cannot wait to introduce Capacity Europe Xtra Powered by JSA to our blended audiences beginning at 12:45pm BST on Tuesday, October 18th.

Q. Can you share a sneak peek of any exciting new sessions or experiences added to this year’s agenda?

Our Opening Keynote Address on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:30am BST inside the conference room will feature the Head of Future Telecom Projects Division at the European Space Agency, Xavier Lobao. He will discuss the key role Space plays in 5G and 6G, and ESA programs in support of global and sustainable connectivity. It’s certainly one to watch out for.

Q. We love Capacity’s “Going Green” initiative. Can you share any strategies that you incorporate into your planning process to promote sustainability?

Through our umbrella organisation Euromoney Institutional Investor’s commitment at COP26 to reduce its carbon footprint, sustainability is firmly etched in our thinking as an event organiser. At Capacity Europe 2022, in tandem with our main exhibition supplier GES, Capacity Europe is aiming to promote a higher level of social responsibility with green programs and initiatives. These include recycling 60% of their waste with 40% being used for renewable fuel of materials inside the exhibition hall. Client exhibition stands built by GES will be reused at other events to avoid unnecessary waste.

Of course, our delegates also have a hugely supportive role to play. We are encouraging Capacity Europe attendees to scan QR codes to access digital information packs; save energy and usage in their hotel rooms; asking meeting room holders to keep the doors of their meeting rooms closed to allow the air conditioning to work more effectively and save energy; and for delegates to reuse their plate, cups and glasses as much as possible during a networking function to avoid wasting water on unnecessary cleaning. Through the actions and initiatives of Capacity, and the support of our event partners and customers, we hope that our collective response drives change for the better.

Q. Are there any special deals for our JSA community?

Capacity Europe 2022 is pleased to introduce a 10% discount code for clients – input the code JSA10EU22 upon registration on the Capacity Europe event website.

Thank you, David, for these exciting details and giving our JSA community a first look at the action!
