Building on Success: What’s Ahead for Lightpath in 2025

As we enter the new year, Lightpath reflects on an impactful 2024 — a remarkable year that has set the stage for even greater success in 2025. With a continued focus on driving innovation and providing leading-edge power with its next-gen network, Lightpath has made significant strides in revolutionizing how organizations connect to their digital destinations.

In 2024, Lightpath made impressive gains in network expansion and technological innovation. Top highlights include:

  • The launch of LP DDoS Shield, Lightpath’s next-generation network safeguard against a growing list of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack types.
  • Announcing the acquisition of United Fiber & Data, which is set to add a geographically diverse, high-fiber count network between New York City and Ashburn, VA, plus increase the serviceable market in Manhattan by over 20%.
  • MiCTA, a national, nonprofit group purchasing organization located in Saginaw, MI, has named Lightpath as an approved vendor for its Internet, Ethernet, Wavelengths, Dark Fiber, Private Networks, Voice, and all of the company’s managed service offerings.
  • Rachel Stack was appointed as Chief Financial Officer in August. Stack joins the executive team with a wealth of financial expertise and industry knowledge to support Lightpath’s strategic growth plans.
  • Deploying the industry’s first known 400G protected circuit utilizing power-efficient Ciena WaveLogic 5 Nano coherent optics for a hyperscale customer.
  • Announcing its continuous aggressive expansion in the Greater Miami region by adding connectivity to eight new data centers, adding 15 miles of new fiber network, and introducing a new RapidPath dark fiber service to area data centers.
  • Ending the year with a 5-Star Rating and a score of 97 on the 2024 GRESB Infrastructure Asset Benchmark Report. This score placed Lightpath first among all participating private data transmission companies in the fiber networks sector in the Americas. Lightpath is proud of their standing as the top-rated company in the industry for Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) GRESB Rating score.

Looking ahead, Lightpath is focusing on how to provide the right level of products and services for businesses of all sizes. Different businesses have different needs and Lightpath aims to provide tailored solutions that empower companies — from small and medium businesses to enterprises to hyperscalers — to achieve their goals with reliability, innovation and excellence.

SMBs should have access to the power of fiber services, but do not require the ultra high-capacity connections of larger companies. On the other end of the spectrum, the rise of generative AI (GenAI) is pushing the infrastructure requirements between data centers to new highs. Lightpath looks to play a key role in supplying the connectivity between locations that hyperscalers will need to unleash the full power of AI.

This will truly be a landmark year for Lightpath as it continues taking steps to meet the evolving connectivity demands of all companies, regardless of size. Look for announcements in the coming months about how they will achieve this.
