BDx 360View Carbon tracking tool

Big Data Exchange (BDx) Launches 360°View to Enable Carbon Credit Tracking

As PTC’22 kicked off Sunday in Honolulu, BDx has announced the global launch of its groundbreaking solution, 360°View, a carbon tracking tool that will help users monitor and manage their power efficiency and carbon footprints. For three years, BDx customers have used the platform to collect power and environmental-related analytics from dispersed data centers across Asia. 360°View is now immediately available, as a free download to all users, including non BDx customers, to manage their power and carbon footprints efficiently from anywhere in the world.

The Rise of Carbon Credit Tools

Sustainability is a complex topic and in the forefront of people’s minds in this day and age, 360°View eradicates the complexity of carbon accounting. As of now, third party consultants primarily validate credit and offset claims of the various carbon exchanges and bodies administering carbon credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This process can be burdensome, error-ridden, expensive and can pose conflicts of interest. Double counting is also a common issue in the process. 360°View provides a solution to Greenhouse Gas Producers (GHG) who have guaranteed to reduce their carbon footprint and have committed to aggressive net-zero and even carbon-free negative goals.

“Traditionally, 360°View is used by data centers and colocation users to holistically monitor and manage their power-related efficiencies, asset health, and hybrid infrastructure inventory,” says Sujit Panda, CTO at BDx. “This new version now also measures CUE (Carbon Usage Effectiveness) to help companies report and receive carbon credits. This revolutionary feature means 360°View is no longer a tool just for colocation customers and data centers, but can also be used by residential and commercial buildings, utility companies, and sustainable forestry programs. Being native green, sustainability is embedded in the BDx DNA, and it was a natural decision for us to offer the software globally for free.”

How 360°View Advances Carbon Credit Tracking

360°View offers three editions that range from the free basic version to a full-featured enterprise level plan. Each version allows colocation and renewables sector users to upgrade their edition at any time in order to access a broad range of features such as, connecting to carbon registries and carbon credit token blockchains. Key features of 360°View include:

  • Colocation and total power management
  • A unified physical security command center
  • Automated and integrated workflow management
  • Asset performance and lifecycle management
  • Sustainability trackers, including accurate measurement of PUE (Power Usage Efficiency), CUE (Carbon Usage Effectiveness) and CoP (Coefficient of Performance)
  • Connection to carbon registries and carbon credit blockchains
