Exciting news out of the Lion City! Enterprises, cloud providers, and multinationals seeking colocation capacity in Singapore now have a real option. Big Data Exchange (BDx), one of the fastest-growing data center clusters in the Asia Pacific, just announced completing the first phase of capacity upgrades at SIN1, the company’s award-winning Singapore data center. Located in Paya Lebar, SIN1’s initial phase of upgrades adds 2MW of vital capacity to the fifth-largest global data center market and gateway to Asia, bringing SIN1’s total capacity to 8MW.
Additional Singapore Data Center Capacity and Upgrades
Other upgrades to BDx’s SIN1 facility are planned for later this year and include four floors and an extra 8MW of IT. These additional upgrades will take the facility’s total capacity to 14MW, up from 3.6MW when BDx acquired the facility from Telstra last year. With sustainability at the forefront globally, the capacity upgrade also improves energy efficiency by 20%.
“Data center services are in high demand in Singapore because of its strategic location,” says Mayank Srivastava, SVP of Design, Build & Hyperscale Engagement for BDx. “The added capacity makes BDx one of the few network dense, carrier-neutral facilities that can meet the needs of new and existing customers in Singapore.”
