Bandwidth IG Launches Dark Fiber Network in Greater Portland, Delivering Over 20,000 Fiber Miles

Bandwidth Infrastructure Group (Bandwidth IG) has announced it will bring its high-quality dark fiber into a third market: Greater Portland. The company’s dark fiber connectivity solutions are now expanding into the rapidly growing area. Already available throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Greater Atlanta, Bandwidth IG is one of the fastest growing metro dark fiber providers in the U.S. The Greater Portland and Hillsboro area is quickly becoming one of the hottest data center markets in the Pacific Northwest, and Bandwidth IG is making a substantial impact in providing high-quality dark fiber connectivity to the area.BandwidthIG Logo RGB primary

Some of the Portland and Hillsboro areas’ benefits include affordable real estate, renewable sources of power, and close proximity to trans-Pacific subsea cables. This, along with local tax incentives, has led to a rapidly emerging data center hub. Additionally, greater amounts of activity are increasing demand for data center connectivity throughout the area. With 100 MW of commissioned power currently in the Portland market, and 200 MW of additional power pre-leased at multiple data center projects currently in development, Greater Portland will require more dark fiber services to power the area’s growing networks.

“We’ve watched the thriving business climate in the Greater Portland area drive demand for dark fiber. We expect our newly placed network to be pivotal to the ongoing success of business growth by providing the quality and quantity of the connections needed between these critical data centers. The rising number of technology companies, enterprises and data centers in the area will require the large cable counts, diversity and low latency that only new networks, like ours, can provide. We’re pleased to bring this quality offering to Greater Portland.” — Jim Nolte, CEO for Bandwidth IG.

Bandwidth IG Continues Rapid Expansion Beyond Portland

Along with its recent expansion into the Greater Portland Area, Bandwidth IG continues to grow its network in its existing markets to keep up with growing demands for data center services. Recently, Bandwidth IG added 40 kilometers of new dark fiber within its San Francisco Bay Area network, connecting Santa Clara to South San Jose and providing vital connectivity to already established data centers. The previous year, Bandwidth IG installed dark fiber to QTS’ Santa Clara Data Center campus and Digital Reality’s 13 Data Centers in the area.

As a result of continued demand from the San Francisco Bay Area’s numerous tech companies and cloud service providers, Bandwidth IG has continued to improve its dark fiber connectivity. The company isn’t slowing down! Bandwidth IG plans to keep growing its network across the San Francisco Bay Area, Greater Atlanta and Greater Portland.
