Metro Data Center (formerly Colo Atl) in downtown Atlanta, owned and operated by American Tower, recently underwent an expansion to better serve customers. American Tower added nearly 20,000 square feet and two additional megawatts of capacity to its Metro Data Center facility to help more businesses connect to their customers.

Atlanta Metro Data Center Expansion

The recent expansion at American Tower’s collocation facility in downtown Atlanta now has a total of 4 MW of capacity and approximately 44,500 square feet across the second, fifth and eighth floors.

Since acquiring the facility in 2019, American Tower has continued to invest in making improvements to solidify its status as one of the top collocation environments in Atlanta. Last year, the company completed renovations to the fifth floor, added a dedicated Meet-Me Area, made upgrades to the security and surveillance system, and more.

“Expanding in the telecom hub of Atlanta gives us the opportunity to provide our customers with more power and capacity, giving them a vehicle to provide stronger connectivity options. Since acquiring our facility at 55 Marietta nearly two years ago, we’ve been committed to providing state-of-the-art collocation facilities in downtown Atlanta, and this expansion is the latest step we’ve taken to fulfill that promise.” – David Fox, Director of Business Development, U.S. Innovation for American Tower.

A Deeper Commitment to Customers

American Tower recently launched its newest edge data center in Pittsburgh. The addition of the Pittsburgh facility and the expansion of the Metro Data Center in Atlanta demonstrates American Tower’s commitment to invest in new and existing infrastructure. Combined, these efforts provide the safest, fastest, and most secure collocation environments possible. All locations are backed by a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center, and our solutions allow companies to scale with ease.
