Alex Rabbetts, Managing Director of the European Data Center Association (EUDCA), recently sat down with João Marques Lima for JSA TV to discuss the purpose of the association and some European data center trends. The EUDCA was founded to help data centers located in Europe in a number of ways, from assisting them in marketing efforts to acting as an advocate and liaison to the government. The EUDCA lobbies regularly for consideration from European lawmakers to be sure they better understand the industry before regulating it, and often acts as a touchpoint between trade associations across Europe to coordinate business dealings.

Earlier this year, the EUDCA created a pact between data centers and cloud providers across Europe to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. This agreement is a major win for the EUDCA and its members, as it illustrates the dedication to minimizing environmental impact. Rabbetts remarks that initiatives like this and continued lobbying efforts are going to become increasingly important as the year progresses to address the large amount of regulation from the European government.
