The Elea Data Centers team is expanding again!
Fernando Madureira has joined Elea as the new Director of Engineering Design & Expansion.
He will oversee Elea’s design and infrastructure development as they advance with their game-changing projects, such as Rio AI City, a visionary AI and cloud campus in Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Park, designed to achieve a total capacity of 3.2 GW.
Fernando brings an impressive track record of more than 30 years of mission-critical engineering experience to Elea. He has successfully led some of the region’s most ambitious hyperscale data center projects, instilling confidence in his ability to steer Elea towards its future goals.
Also on the horizon is Elea’s major partnership with Petrobras, as the company recently won a bid to build a data center for the company, one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies. The R$2.3 billion (approximately $5 billion US) 17-year contract represents the largest IT infrastructure initiative ever awarded by a Latin American company.
“Madureira is an exemplary professional, who combines high technical value with a strategic, long-term business vision guided by sustainability — in line with the massive demands we are addressing and in which we will continue to grow,” said Alessandro Lombardi, Chairman of Elea.
In addition to his role at Elea, Fernando also serves as Technical Director of the Brazilian Data Center Association (ABDC).
