Elea Data Centers Announces a New Partnership with DE-CIX to Host its First Internet Exchanges in South America

Elea Data Centers announces that DE-CIX will deliver its high-performance interconnection services to its facilities in Brazil. DE-CIX Points of Presence (PoPs) will be deployed at Elea’s São Paulo-SPO1 and Rio de Janeiro-RJO1 data centers, remotely serving customers, the carrier ecosystem, and other Elea sites.

“With the partnership, Elea reinforces its position as the South American neutral data center platform, offering low latency, automated interconnection, and peering services with high-speed connections,” said Elea Data Centers’ Chairman, Alessandro Lombardi.  “This collaboration enhances our services and reaffirms our commitment to neutral, interconnected, and state-of-the-art digital infrastructure.”

The IXs will launch in early 2025 and be integrated into the global DE-CIX ecosystem. This will create a secure, high-performance interconnection platform for ISPs, content delivery networks, network operators, cloud service providers, and businesses of all sizes.

With a population exceeding 215 million and an Internet penetration rate of 81%, Brazil has one of the largest cloud and content markets in Latin America. Although São Paulo has long been the main data center hub, cities like Rio de Janeiro are now rising as key locations, with substantial investments in developing cutting-edge facilities to meet cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) demands.

This latest news follows Elea’s recent rebranding announcement and the appointment of Elea’s Chairman, Alessandro Lombardi, to the iMasons’ Advisory Board.
