Elea Data Centers has announced it has won a landmark public bid to build a new data center for Petrobras, one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies. This news marks a monumental milestone for Elea and represents a significant advancement in Latin American technology.
This historic R$2.3 billion (~US$0.5 billion) agreement is the largest IT infrastructure contract of its kind ever awarded in Latin America. Over a 17-year term, Elea will develop a high-capacity, 30 MVA data center to host Petrobras’ supercomputers and support critical AI workloads with advanced liquid cooling.
This project sets a new global benchmark for sustainability. In line with Petrobras’ commitment to a fair energy transition, the facility will be powered exclusively by 100% certified renewable energy. It will also feature full water reuse and meet the highest efficiency standards, making it the first project of its kind at this scale in Latin America.
Elea Chairman, Alessandro Lombardi, stated, “Winning the contract with Petrobras is an important milestone and reinforces our commitment to technological leadership in the sector.”
The new facility will be located at Elea’s São Bernardo do Campo campus in São Paulo.
