Key representatives from Provident Data Centers joined JSA TV at PTC’25 in Hawaii to share insights into the evolving data center landscape. Dr. Denitza Arguirova, Director of Data Center Development, and Jack Backes, Principal Strategist, discussed the company’s latest initiatives and trends shaping the industry.
Why Dallas-Fort Worth is a Hot Market for Data Centers
Dr. Denitza Arguirova shared how the Dallas-Fort Worth area is experiencing significant demand from hyperscalers and operators, making it one of the nation’s hottest markets for data center expansion. Provident Data Centers is positioning itself to be a major player in this booming market and recently announced plans to develop a major hyperscale campus, set to be one of the largest in the southern part of Dallas. She said the area is particularly attractive to hyperscalers due to its robust fiber infrastructure connectivity, talented workforce and pro-business tax climate.
Several factors set Provident Data Centers’ southern Dallas development apart from competitors, said Denitza, noting the project’s sheer size and power capacity. “The DFW campus has already secured approval for 500 megawatts from the local transmission operator Ercot with the potential for future expansion,” she said “The site will feature a multiphased development approach, beginning with the installation of a 345 kV handoff on-site, capable of supporting up to 1.8 gigawatts.”
AI The Driving Force
Jack Backes also provided a glimpse into the future and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the data center industry. AI and high-compute applications require sophisticated and well-equipped campuses that can support the power-intensive needs of modern workloads, noted Jack.
As part of Provident’s broader strategy, he spoke about the company’s commitment to workforce development, particularly through partnerships with organizations like iMasons. He stressed the importance of talent cultivation in the data center industry, especially as demand for data center professionals grows.
From land development and power sourcing to workforce development and AI integration, Jack said Provident Data Centers will be a leading force in the rapidly evolving data center space. “We don’t just provide land—we provide the kit, fully organized, with the relationships and expertise that ensure a seamless experience for our partners – we put a bow on it.”
Building for the Future
As the industry evolves, data centers must move beyond the traditional big box model and embrace innovative infrastructure tailored to high-density applications. “Provident’s approach focuses on building state-of-the-art facilities that will remain relevant for years to come,” said Jack “We’re anticipating the growing power consumption needs driven by AI and high-performance computing and meeting those needs through meticulous planning.”
Provident Data Centers’ ambitious development in Dallas-Fort Worth represents a significant step forward in meeting the evolving needs of the AI revolution, ensuring that businesses have the infrastructure they need to thrive in the digital age, he added.
