Nxtra Data Limited (“Nxtra by Airtel”), subsidiary of Bharti Airtel (Airtel), is no stranger to growth and expansion. The company recently broke ground on a new facility in Kolkata which will be the largest hyperscale data center located in East India. Nxtra by Airtel will invest Rs 500 Cr to create the building  which will provide digital infrastructure to the underserved market in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation , supporting the growing needs of enterprises and global cloud players. 

Nxtra’s new 25 MW facility will be located at Kolkata’s Bengal Silicon Valley at New Town and will be a green facility from inception. In line with Nxtra’s commitment to environment and sustainability, the data center will source clean energy for all of its operations. The Kolkata data center will be Nxtra’s 13th large scale facility, adding to the already operational 120 edge facilities within the country, further cementing Nxtra’s position as India’s largest data center network.

Over the next four years, Nxtra by Airtel will invest over Rs 5000 cr to expand its capacity by 3X to over 400 MW. The company has already invested and partnered with eight organizations to develop renewable energy power plants across India to source more than 180,000 MW of renewable energy and has an ambition to reach net zero by 2031.
