Novva’s Fifth US Data Center Redefines Sustainability

Newest Facility in San Francisco to Feature Novva’s Signature Innovative Water-free Cooling and Cutting-edge Battery Technology

In a significant leap towards technological innovation and environmental sustainability, Novva Data Centers has unveiled its plan to expand operations to San Francisco. The announcement of this new data center, set to become Novva’s fifth in the United States, signifies a milestone in the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge, purpose-built facilities for intelligent computing in the Western United States. With an investment exceeding $500 million and a forward-thinking approach, Novva aims to establish the San Francisco location as one of the most innovative and environmentally conscious data centers in the country.

Novva’s bringing serious tech advancements to the Golden City, incorporating several groundbreaking features in its design and infrastructure:

  • Electrical Resilience and Redundancy: The facility has an 18MW N+1 critical compute load through Novva’s proprietary electrical delivery system. This enhances resiliency, allows for concurrent maintenance, and ensures distributed redundancy.
  • Efficient Compute Load Management: Novva’s 18MW N.5 – N.5 design allows for seamless adjustment of compute loads during outages, making it ideal for test labs or non-mission-critical tasks.
  • Cutting-edge Battery Technology: Sodium Ion UPS batteries are used for their safety and sustainability benefits.
  • Innovative Cooling Systems: A direct-to-chip dry cooling loop ensures efficient heat dissipation and performance.

Sustainable Tech Evolution

Novva is also prioritizing sustainability with an inventive water-free air-cooling system, generators operating on hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO), and the use of recyclable materials in construction.

“This will be one of the greenest data centers ever created in the area and represents a very rare opportunity for clients to locate intelligent computing in one of the most important cities for software and hardware development in the world.” –  Novva’s CEO, Wes Swenson

Charting Growth and Sustainability

Novva’s expansion into the Bay Area not only marks a strategic move for the company’s growth but also underscores its commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable data center design. As the technology landscape evolves, Novva’s San Francisco data center stands as a testament to the fusion of innovation, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency in the heart of one of the world’s foremost hubs for software and hardware development.
