The sun has set on PTC’25, and we can’t think of a better way to start what promises to be another big year for Light Source Communications (LSC).
This year’s conference was the first that LSC has been a member of the Pacific Telecommunications Council, so we thought we would get things started with a bang with a Tiki Tailgate Party to kick off the event. Blending the conference’s beautiful setting in Honolulu, Hawaii, with the excitement of the NFL Playoffs, this networking event was a hit involving football, fellowship and fun. We shared delicious food and drinks along with LSC swag and raffle prizes at the gorgeous Ilikai Hotel. What a way to start another exciting week at PTC!

PTC also provided an opportunity to share updates on LSC’s recent accomplishments and give a look ahead. Debra Freitas, CEO, told JSA TV about how LSC started construction on two networks in Phoenix, Arizona, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2024. It was a great year for the company as we also completed a rebranding initiative, including a sleek new logo and streamlined website, as well as added talented telecom veterans to our leadership team: Joe Patton as CRO, Dan Enright as COO, and most recently, Matt Gutierrez as CFO.
Pete Empie, CSO and President, told JSA TV about the high demand LSC has seen in the Phoenix network and gave an update on the project. LSC has doubled the capacity in terms of underground assets and expanded the network’s route miles from 140 to 300+. The project is slated to be completed by the end of 2025 thanks to the efforts of 15 to 20 crews who are working on the ground daily.
Meanwhile, the work in Tulsa to build on LSC’s existing 50-mile network with an additional 80 miles is progressing at an impressive pace. Construction on the network is expected to be completed in March, nine months ahead of schedule. “Everything there is going great. We’ve expanded; we’re adding some laterals there as well, so that project is really exciting for us and we’re really proud of it,” Debra said.
A big part of these network builds — and others in the works — is supporting Artificial Intelligence (AI) connectivity for enterprises. LSC has positioned itself to be in front of the leading edge in terms of connectivity capabilities available to enterprises. These high fiber count and conduit systems offer the capacity enterprises are looking for now but can also deliver the high-performance computing that’s behind AI applications. Making this available to as many enterprises as possible is an integral part of LSC’s network builds. “It looks like, on the surface, we are serving the hyperscalers, which we are, but our real heart is for the enterprises,” Pete told JSA TV.

Now that we’ve said aloha to another PTC, our focus is on the rest of the year ahead, and we are looking forward to some big announcements to come. Stay tuned!
