LightRiver & Nokia Power Gigabit Fiber’s Dallas Expansion to Connect AI Data Centers

LightRiver announced a new collaboration with Nokia this week to accelerate Gigabit Fiber’s latest expansion across Dallas, linking the region’s fast-growing AI data centers with high-capacity, low-latency optical connectivity.

The build leverages the Nokia 1830 Global Express (GX) optical platform and LightRiver’s multi-vendor design and deployment expertise, enabling Gigabit Fiber to turn up new on-net connections in days and deliver capacity where it’s needed most.

This expansion isn’t happening in isolation. Dallas–Fort Worth remains one of the country’s most competitive data center corridors, with steady demand from cloud, AI and enterprise workloads. Gigabit Fiber has been steadily scaling to meet that demand, operating roughly 500 route miles of conduit and connecting more than 50 data centers across its Texas footprint, with fresh investment to deepen its reach in Texas and the broader Southwest.

What makes this announcement notable is the blend of speed and sustainability. The Nokia 1830 GX solution is designed to scale bandwidth efficiently while reducing power consumption, an increasingly critical metric as AI training and inference traffic grows. By partnering on a platform built for both capacity and energy efficiency and combining it with LightRiver’s proven multi-vendor deployment playbooks, Gigabit Fiber can add lanes to the digital expressway without trading away operational efficiency.

The initial focus is Dallas, with connections that strengthen routes to Houston, San Antonio and Phoenix, supporting hyperscalers, wholesale providers and enterprises seeking deterministic performance for AI and high-density cloud services.

“LightRiver is proud to partner with Nokia and Gigabit Fiber on this important expansion,” said Matt Briley, LightRiver’s Senior Vice President of  Sales. “By combining Nokia’s trusted optical technology with our expertise in network design and deployment, we’re ensuring that Gigabit Fiber can deliver scalable, resilient networks at record speed. Together, we’re enabling faster access to AI data centers and helping enterprises across Texas and Arizona unlock the full potential of next-generation connectivity.”
