One thing we know for sure is that the way we use and embrace technology changed dramatically during the pandemic. Maven Wave has been an innovative, consultative force for enterprises during these murky and confusing months. In addition to completing rapid-response, complex client projects at a faster pace than ever before, Maven Wave has worked on vital initiatives deploying Google Cloud that have made a notable difference in the world.
So much so that Google Cloud has honored Atos and Maven Wave with the 2020 Social Impact Partner of the Year title. Keep reading to learn more about four groundbreaking projects that helped Atos and Maven Wave earn Google Cloud’s 2020 Social Impact Partner of the Year title.
Boosting Telehealth Adoption During the Pandemic with Google Meet
Healthcare organizations early in the pandemic needed assistance implementing telehealth practices, with so many patients suddenly concerned about in-person visits. Many healthcare organizations had telemedicine projects in the works prior to 2020; lockdown accelerated those deployments exponentially. Through a partnership with Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), Maven Wave deployed the first telehealth services via Google Meet and Epic that support HIPAA compliance. Maven Wave launched compliant Google Meet video conferencing capabilities integrated with Epic in a few short weeks. From March to June 2020, CHA sustained 65-70% of its projected service volume in Primary Care and 90% of its volume in Psychiatry, with the majority of visits handled via telehealth.
Combating the Opioid Crisis with Data
It’s no secret that the opioid epidemic worsened in severity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. What few people realize is that one of the biggest hurdles behind this epidemic is a data problem that hinders the work of those trying to bring life-saving resources to areas and individuals most affected by substance abuse. Anecdotally, some who work in harm reduction have estimated that 50-90% of overdoses go unreported in Texas. Saving lives starts with closing the reporting gap so that accurately reporting information can send resources to the states and communities that need it most. In conjunction with the University of Texas at Austin, Maven Wave built a digital platform for overdose reporting and tracking hosted in Google Cloud. The goal of the platform was to provide a resource to look at real-time data visualizations so that geographic hot spots could be identified and life-saving medications could be directed to locations that need them most.
Ushering in Economic Recovery with Virtual Career Centers
During the pandemic, many had to make the tough decision to lay off workers to satisfy their bottom lines. Observing the alarming number of Rhode Islanders who lost their jobs, Governor Gina Raimondo took action to find a way to alleviate the growing number of unemployment benefit filings by finding a way to get people back to work using advanced technologies. The governor, the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, and Google Cloud began developing an innovative, data-driven, user-friendly online platform known as the Virtual Career Center. Maven Wave helped design the center, powered by Google Cloud, to leverage innovative technologies that would help Rhode Islanders get back to work. With the completion of the project, Maven Wave’s team had built and delivered the first and most innovative workforce development program of its kind in the U.S.
Fighting Climate Change with Net Zero Commitment
Atos became a trendsetter in 2020 for what we feel is one of the most impactful commitments that could’ve been made in 2020: setting out to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035. By doing so, Atos established one of the highest sustainability-related standards for our industry. They ambitiously pledged to achieve that benchmark 15 years ahead of the UN Paris Agreement on climate change. Through this commitment, Atos will reduce the emissions under its direct control by half by 2025 and achieve the same reduction for its remaining emissions by 2030. For all emissions under its control, Atos will offset 100% of its residual emissions through certified carbon offsetting projects.
Atos and Maven Wave look forward to continuing to deliver social impact alongside its enterprise clients in the second half of 2021 and beyond.
