A $250 million debt facility is helping to fund critical digital infrastructure projects in Atlanta, one of the fastest growing data center markets in North America. The debt facility announced by BIG Fiber, led by Stonepeak Credit and La Caisse, will be used to refinance existing debt, provide new capital and facilitate major dark fiber network expansions for hyperscale facilities already underway.
The closing of the debt facility features an additional $100 million accordion option. The financing provides the capital necessary to accelerate BIG’s expansion, and it reinforces its position as a premier provider of the mission-critical digital infrastructure that powers modern enterprises, cloud providers, and hyperscalers.
Scaling for the Future
This latest credit facility follows BIG Fiber’s 2024 achievement of the dark fiber sector’s first-ever green loan. With the continued support of Columbia Capital and SDC Capital Partners, this latest announcement puts the company in the position to meet the escalating infrastructure needs of today’s AI-driven workloads.
The proceeds will be utilized to refinance existing debt and provide the headroom required for major network expansions already in progress. A key focus is the buildout in Greater Atlanta, where the company is adding 205 route miles and 165,000 fiber miles to its existing network.
A Vision for Modernized Infrastructure
BIG Fiber provides purpose-built, high-capacity solutions that solve the most significant connectivity challenges. As AI ecosystems continue to expand, the need for secure, underground and highly scalable dark fiber has never been greater.
“Our partnership with Stonepeak Credit and La Caisse marks a pivotal moment in our mission to empower our customers with highly scalable and purpose-built dark fiber solutions. This financing ensures we have the scale to stay ahead of the escalating demand for modernized infrastructure enabling the AI ecosystem and the necessary digital highways for decades to come.” – Bruce Garrison, CEO of BIG Fiber
Looking Ahead: BIG Fiber’s Bright Future
This expansion is set to bring our total capacity in the Atlanta and San Francisco Bay Area networks to 850 route miles and over 3 million fiber miles. With phased Ready for Service (RFS) dates beginning in early 2027, BIG Fiber is ready to provide the foundational infrastructure that transforms lives and businesses.
