Breaking news on Day 1 of International Telecoms Week (ITW) came from the Industry Cloud for Connectivity, Connectbase. The 8-year-old Boston-based company is acquiring LastMileXchange, known as LMX, headquartered in London.
Following the acquisition of LMX, Conenctbase now has the largest global API ecosystem securely connecting buyers and sellers across six continents and more than 2.4 billion unique locations profiled within The Connected World platform.
“The Connectbase vision has always been global,” said Ben Edmond, CEO and Founder of Connectbase. “Bringing the LMX reach, offerings, customer base and team into the Connectbase fold follows through on our longer-term strategic vision and brings incredible additional value to the existing customer base of both companies. With this acquisition, we are deepening our presence across EMEA and APAC, and furthering our journey as a truly connected global platform. For the past 18 years, LMX has built impressive digital off-net quoting solutions serving global telecom carrier customers. Now, as part of the Connectbase ecosystem, LMX customers will be able to further transform and automate their network buying and selling functions easily.”
Existing customers for both Connectbase and LMX will benefit from extended reach in the EMEA and APAC regions and the ability to access the leading global connectivity marketplace.
In addition to acquiring LMX, Connectbase also announced further growth within the EMEA region with the addition of Edison Smith as Vice President of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Smith brings 20 years of global commercial leadership experience, specializing in high-growth disruptive technology companies.
“Connectbase has built an enviable reputation as the leading global connectivity marketplace and location and network intelligence provider in the U.S.,” said Smith. “I was drawn to the way that they demonstrate a deep understanding of our industry’s problems and apply practical solutions to fix them. I’m excited to bring this technology to the global market and play a part in revolutionizing the way that companies buy and sell connectivity.”
