One of the telecom industry’s biggest events connecting South American operators with international partners will soon take place, and China Telecom do Brasil, the Brazilian subsidiary of China Telecom Americas, will play a large role in educating attendees about an emerging region.
Capacity LATAM, a conference focused on one of the world’s fastest-growing digital markets, takes place March 12-13 in São Paulo, Brazil. More than 700 attendees will gather to gain insights into factors driving trends in peering, data centers, terrestrial and subsea fiber, and more. CT Brasil’s General Manager, Denis Monteleone, will join a panel of industry experts addressing the factors making Fortaleza, the fourth most populous city in Brazil, a hub for connectivity.
What is Driving Connectivity in Fortaleza?
With Fortaleza being one of the northernmost port cities in Brazil and the closest in proximity to West Africa, it is rising as the gateway to not only Brazil, but much of South America and Latin America. The session, “How a Resilient and Growing Ecosystem in Fortaleza is Enhancing Connectivity Across Latin America,” will address:
- The evolution of the local connectivity ecosystem in Fortaleza and how it can be expected to grow in the coming years.
- The advantage to local and international operators of a strong ecosystem.
- The potential of Fortaleza to serve regions beyond Latin America, especially in West Africa.
Monteleone will add his perspective on what is making the city a data center hub. In addition to its geographical location serving as a landing station for 10 subsea cable systems and 11 Internet Exchange Points, Monteleone believes the city’s importance in serving as a global connectivity hub will strengthen. He will shine a light on how local government is helping to draw investments to the region, and how manufacturers in particular are expanding in the area, driving the need for greater connectivity. In addition, Fortaleza’s availability of power sources, including renewable energy, makes it an attractive location for data center operators.
