New 1623 Farnam CEO and President Bill Severn to Boost Growth in the Midwest

Today, edge interconnection and data center expert 1623 Farnam is launching into a new era of growth with a leadership announcement: The appointment of Bill Severn as CEO and President. The interconnection hub has been building a value-rich ecosystem of eminent peers, partners and platforms — not to mention robust IT infrastructure solutions — in the Midwest for some time now. Now, this location stands as a beacon of mission-critical connectivity in the Heartland, delivering advantageous local, regional, national and international reach for advanced applications, innovative organizations and more. With this new leadership addition, even more growth and enrichment is soon to follow.

Bill Severn is no stranger to 1623 Farnam, its initiatives, its growth trajectory or its goals — in fact, he’s been playing a crucial role in the organization’s technological acceleration since 2019. Serving as Operating Partner for a number of years at 1623 Farnam’s parent company, BERKS Group, Bill has been a strategic lead in large-scale expansions to the facility, beneficial partnerships and a whole lot more.

Most recently, Bill spearheaded a 3MW power addition to the data center and interconnection hub. In a landscape where critical IT power can be hard to come by, this addition feeds rabid hyperscale appetites for resources that will power their aggressive new projects and use cases that depend on optimized peering and colocation options.

Beyond his work at 1623 Farnam, Bill continues to serve as a leading figure in the telecom industry, serving as Executive Vice President of BERKS Group, leading business development efforts across technology infrastructure. Altogether, Bill Severn brings a deep expertise across fiber networking, cable, broadband, data storage and cloud services that is sure to propel 1623 Farnam to new heights.

“This appointment is a natural fit based on Bill’s deep expertise and proven leadership both in the industry and at 1623 Farnam. His work positioning the company as the premier Midwest data center and driving critical growth at the Omaha IX have not only put the organization on the path to success, but continue to bring increasing levels of value to customers in the growing 1623 Farnam ecosystem,” said Brian Bradley, President at BERKS Group.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working within and supporting the 1623 Farnam ecosystem for more than five years now, and I am proud to take on this new title as we grow and support our customers’ innovation,” said Severn.

1623 Farnam and its on-site Omaha IX continue to serve advanced customer requirements from a strategic, centralized spot in the U.S., which resides at the interconnection point for the country’s largest east/west and north/south routes. The facility remains at the center of secure onramps to the world’s largest cloud providers, making it a powerful enabler for even the most demanding hyperscale networking needs.
