Belden Releases DiamonDrop™ for Simplified FTTX Deployments

According to a recent report from Fortune Business Insights, the global broadband services market size is projected to grow from USD 608.70 billion in 2026. As expansion accelerates, the teams responsible for installing fiber are under pressure to connect subscribers as quickly as possible and with little to no disruption.

The question is, how can that process be simplified to support aerial and underground FTTx deployments? Enter PPC Broadband’s, a Belden brand, DiamonDrop™, a single-fiber drop cable engineered to make field terminations faster, easier and more reliable for last-mile/drop broadband applications.

DiamonDrop’s core is engineered so the outer jacket peels away cleanly to reveal the 900-micron buffered fiber inside, without specialty tools and without the fiddly, damage-prone stripping that flat drop cables typically demand. For crews working through dozens of terminations a day, even a small reduction in prep time and rework compounds quickly across a project.

Key features & benefits:

  • Faster, easier cable preparation: Unique core design allows the jacket to peel cleanly when exposing the 900 µm buffer with no special tools required.
  • Connector and hardware flexibility: Compatible with most industry-standard connectors and hardware, supporting common termination approaches.
  • Built for outdoor reliability: Durable, weather/UV-resistant jacket designed for outside plant use.
  • Designed for aerial and underground deployments: Suitable for aerial, underground in conduit, or direct burial applications; supports 150 ft spans under NESC heavy load conditions.
  • Compliance-ready: RoHS 2011/65/EU compliant and BABA-compliant options available.

Doug Jones, Belden Broadband Solutions’ VP of Product and Innovation, framed the launch as a direct response to a recurring headache in last-mile fiber work. According to Jones, the cable targets the goal to “remove one of the most common pain points in last-mile fiber work”, cable prep and termination, so crews can move through aerial and underground jobs with more consistency.
