AtlasEdge Expands Data Centre Footprint in Barcelona

AtlasEdge is continuing its expansion with another exciting acquisition! The prominent pan-European data centre provider announced today its acquisition of land for a second data centre in Barcelona — demonstrating the company’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure to meet the growing demands of the digital market.

The impressive 18,000-square-metre plot offers a prime location to the company’s existing data centre, strategically situated just 6km away from the Barcelona Cable Landing Station. This location is a key junction for data connectivity between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, thanks to recent advancements in subsea cable technology.

“This expansion in Barcelona is another stride forward in our mission to develop sustainable capacity in fast-growing European markets. We’re thrilled to continue building our presence and serve more customers in one of the continent’s most dynamic and best-connected digital hubs,” said AtlasEdge CEO Tesh Durvasula of the news.

The new data centre is set to deliver 10MW by 2027, with the potential to scale up to 24MW, enabling AtlasEdge to support the surging customer demand in Barcelona.

This isn’t the first significant announcement to come from AtlasEdge in recent months. The company has also made strategic moves to bolster its executive team and enhance its data centre portfolio, welcoming new CEO Tesh Durvasula and Robbie Mcghie as the Chief Delivery Officer.

Furthermore, AtlasEdge has extended its footprint into the Portuguese market with the acquisition of two adjacent sites in Lisbon. These new sites will collectively deliver more than 20MW of IT load, further cementing the company’s presence in Southern Europe.
