Live from PTC’26, 1623 Farnam has announced a significant expansion of its Omaha presence with the acquisition of a second interconnection facility, further reinforcing the city’s role as a critical Midwest hub for cloud, carrier, wireless, content and edge connectivity.
Planned to be operational in mid-2028, the new facility will add at least 5MW of planned capacity, extending 1623 Farnam’s ability to support growing demand for low-latency traffic exchange and scalable, network-dense infrastructure. The expansion complements the company’s flagship 1623 Farnam Omaha carrier hotel, which has become one of the most densely connected interconnection environments in the region.
“This expansion builds upon the premier, most connected interconnection facility in the entire Midwest and positions us to create the next edge interconnection hub for the region,” said Bill Severn, CEO & President of 1623 Farnam.
The second interconnection facility is designed to extend the interconnection density, network diversity, and ecosystem value that define the 1623 Farnam platform—supporting use cases ranging from broadband and wireless backhaul to cloud connectivity, content distribution, and AI-driven applications.
Together, the two facilities will form a regional interconnection ecosystem, providing access to more than 50 network companies with local, regional, national, and international reach.
