T5 Data Centers, the data center industry’s only Forever On capacity and integrated lifecycle services provider, has strategically expanded its portfolio with the recent acquisition of the CHI V data center site in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This move underscores T5’s vision to secure valuable assets in Chicago’s highly competitive and rapidly growing data center market.
The CHI V property spans seven acres and is currently zoned for data center use. This prime location ensures the site has direct access to essential infrastructure and connectivity, positioning it as a key addition to T5’s expansive portfolio. Development plans for CHI V include constructing a state-of-the-art 220,000-square-foot facility designed to accommodate the increasing demand for high-density cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The new facility will provide 36MW of critical IT capacity, ensuring the necessary power and reliability for these high-performance applications. The facility is expected to be complete in 2028.
As the need for data center space in the Chicago market continues to rise, CHI V is poised to play a vital role in fulfilling this demand. David Horowitz, Senior Vice President and Head of Leasing at T5 Data Centers, expressed the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for data center space in the region with utility power secured with ComEd.
“We have completed the necessary steps to secure utility power with ComEd and will begin construction shortly to meet the growing demand from our customers. This capacity will be delivered at a critical time, as available data center space in this key market is limited,” said David Horowitz, Senior Vice President Head of Leasing at T5 Data Centers.
CHI V adds to T5’s existing footprint in the Chicago area, expanding its presence in one of the country’s most dynamic data center markets. This strategic acquisition is part of T5’s broader growth strategy, which includes the development of large-scale data center campuses in Grayslake, Northlake, and Elk Grove Village. These projects are designed to meet the increasing demand for data center services in the region.
Pete Marin, CEO and President of T5 Data Centers, noted that this project represents the company’s fourth venture in the O’Hare submarket in recent years. The O’Hare submarket is a key area for data center development due to its proximity to the O’Hare International Airport and its strong connectivity infrastructure. T5 has made significant investments in building strong relationships with trusted suppliers and partners in Illinois, which will support the development of CHI V. The new facility complements T5’s ongoing large-scale 1.2 GW campus development in Grayslake, further enhancing the company’s capacity to serve its growing customer base in the region.
T5’s ability to quickly identify and execute transactions for high-quality data center sites has positioned the company as a key player in the data center space. With its focus on providing reliable, high-performance infrastructure, T5 Data Centers is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for data center services, particularly as cloud computing and AI applications continue to shape the future of technology. For more information about T5 Data Centers, visit www.t5datacenters.com.
