Higher education calls for higher speeds and today, Wilcon, the premier West Coast provider of best-in-class fiber optic and data center infrastructure, announced its deployment of a scalable fiber optic network to Soka University’s campus in Aliso Viejo, California.
According to Online Colleges, up to 41% of students have three or more devices connected to the Internet at one time, causing the need for additional bandwidth to be necessary. Soka University needed higher speeds and path diversity, to accommodate new demands such as bandwidth intensive applications and requirements for research, e-learning and other bandwidth-intensive student and faculty needs. Wilcon’s network has solved this requirement by providing Soka University with ample Internet access so students can focus on innovation without any limitations.
“Wilcon’s network expansion to Soka University is a great example of the demand we are seeing throughout Orange County and Southern California for high performance, fiber-based infrastructure,” says Jon DeLuca, CEO of Wilcon. “This type of growth is a priority for Wilcon to support higher education and keep universities and school campuses technologically ahead of the curve. Partnering with Soka University and bringing them more bandwidth and more diversity allows its staff and students to stay connected without bottlenecks.”
Wilcon has an extensive Southern California fiber optic footprint, with recent expansions throughout San Diego and Los Angeles. Operating one of the largest fiber-optic networks in California, Wilcon offers custom-engineered solutions for wireless carriers, service providers and enterprises. Wilcon services include Dark Fiber, Lit Transport, Colocation, Interconnection, Direct Internet Access (DIA) and Cloud Access.
