If there is one place that needs Internet connectivity, voice services and video delivery, it is the NFL Draft. Phones are buzzing and people are looking up their favorite players online and watching video of them.
It’s a wild and extremely busy couple of days and RCN Business, an industry-leading provider of high-speed Internet, video and phone services, was selected by WBL Services to provide the Internet connectivity, voice services and video delivery for the NFL Draft media center in Chicago. The draft took place at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre beginning Thursday, April 30, and ending Saturday, May 2.
With little lead time, RCN Business built a fiber-based solution and provided high capacity circuits to WBL Services to enable HDTV live video and advanced voice communications. RCN provided multiple Dedicated Internet Access lines, along with voice trunks with local and long distance service. 24/7 onsite support and proactive network monitoring were integral to the successful delivery.
“This is the second time WBL has worked with RCN Business, as we also partnered with them for the ‘Big Game’ in New York City last year,” stated Bill Lipscomb, Senior Principal of WBL Services. “I was so impressed with the work RCN Business did in New York, that it was only fitting that we partner for another large-scale NFL event – this time, the Draft. RCN business once again worked with us to create a robust solution. The RCN team was there every step of the way.”
“We appreciate the trust that WBL and the NFL put in us to deliver a customized data, voice and video solution,” said Tom McKay, Senior Vice President and General Manager for RCN Chicago. “Our robust wholly-owned, fiber rich network delivered the reliable communications services necessary to support this massive event.”
