Hibernia Express is on a roll. Not only has Hibernia Express received a warm reception by customers across the financial, webcentric, media and telecom industries; it has now received its third award since its launch just nine months ago. Hibernia Networks and TE SubCom have been awarded the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award for Fixed Infrastructure in recognition of the new industry benchmark established for lowest latency network performance between North America and Europe enabled by Hibernia Express.
The awards celebrate the collaboration between operators and vendors and their projects. Hibernia Networks and TE SubCom’s work together on Hibernia Express resulted in the shortest fiber-optic path across the Atlantic Ocean by utilizing the latest in engineering, design and burial techniques. The cable has reduced the network latency performance from New York to London by more than five milliseconds compared to the next fastest cable on the market. This unprecedented latency provides customers relying on latency sensitive applications, such as financial transactions, media-rich content delivery and machine-to-machine computing, with a leg up over competitors.
“Hibernia Networks is proud to accept this distinguished award recognizing the cutting edge innovation that underlies Hibernia Express,” stated David Smith, SVP of Global Network Operations at Hibernia Networks. “We are honored by the industry accolades received for this transformational cable system, which entailed a tremendous amount of perseverance and dedication from the project team to complete. Ultimately it’s the benefit that this engineering achievement brings to our customers that is most impactful. We are committed to continuing our innovation as we seek to deliver the fastest connectivity solutions around the world for customers that rely on unparalleled low latency network performance for their business critical applications.”
