Founded in 2002 by Dave Weymouth and Mike Perry, Optelian supplies advanced optical networking solutions based on Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology. Some of the world’s largest telecommunications carriers count on Optelian to provide innovative solutions for access, metro, long-haul, campus and data center-interconnect applications.
During its 11 years in business, Optelian has expanded significantly, growing all company functions and acquiring the modulation component supplier, Versawave Technologies, in late 2011.
“The in-house development and manufacturing allows Optelian to give customers the benefit of greater customization, faster delivery and best-in-class quality,” said Brenda Snarr, Optelian’s vice president of finance.
Much of Optelian’s success can be credited to a strong customer-centric philosophy, which runs company deep. This strong focus drives the product development team’s vision for new, more advanced solutions, and it has allowed Optelian to expand both its team and its offerings while keeping its small-company feel and personal attention.
Over the past year, Optelian has successfully expanded its operations across the globe, providing services to carriers in North America, Europe, the Caribbean and Africa, among others. It’s also recently created a Services Division and continues to bring on more staff to better serve its customer base.
Optelian has offices in both Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and Marietta, Georgia. The company employs more than 190 people in North America.
