MRV Communications announced the release of its OD-4-HD solution today. A member of its OptiDriver product suite, the modular OD-4-HD is engineered to accommodate the market trend for higher speeds at the access edge, with a smaller form factor, higher modular port density and improved power efficiency.
“Our enterprise and metro customers demand flexible competitively priced solutions that enable them to meet growing bandwidth requirements along with the ability to further scale as their network and bandwidth demands increase,” commented Adam Scheer, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Corporate Development for MRV. “Our OD-4-HD solution offers low power consumption and rack space savings in a small, easy to deploy form factor that is ideal for optical Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). The unique attributes of our OD-4-HD enable our customers to realize significant reductions in CAPEX and OPEX, while maintaining the ability to easily and efficiently scale their networks.”
Service providers, data center operators and enterprises require higher bandwidth in the access network and MRV designed the new OD-4-HD to meet this growing need. The OD-4-HD chassis is a modular 1RU member of the OptiDriver family with flexible network architecture, in a compact format, and is purpose-built as a managed optical demarcation device that delivers operational simplicity. The OD-4-HD enables service providers to start small and grow fast using the same standard OptiDriver cards in any of the OptiDriver chassis, which come in 4, 6, 12, 16, 32 and 48 slot versions. The versatility of the chassis enables new optical technologies and a smaller footprint with increased capacity over time as technology evolves.
This solution can accommodate any existing or new single and dual height OptiDriver modules, including 10G and Coherent 100G transponders, as well as the upcoming Coherent 200G muxponder. MRV’s OD-4-HD solution provides the lowest power and highest density, modular pluggable-based 100G options with reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). For management, MRV’s advanced Pro-Vision® service orchestration and software provides remote point-and-click service turn up along optical monitoring tools.
MRV will be exhibiting and displaying the OD-4-HD solution at the Next Generation Optical Networking conference this week, from June 28 to July 1, 2016 in Acropolis, Nice. To meet with MRV onsite, please visit Stand #33 or email [email protected].
