Coming on the heels of LightRiver’s acquisition of Unique Computer Services, which included the industry-leading product, netFLEX®, is the announcement of a newly accessible encrypted wavelength feature within the software.

If you aren’t familiar with netFLEX®, the product enables transport network operators of all shapes and sizes to efficiently provision and manage anything from just a few to several hundred thousand network elements. Now that you’re caught up, let’s dive into how the feature compliments the existing software.

It should come as no surprise that the vulnerability of data that is in transit is more intensified than data that is at rest. The solution? The netFLEX Management System. It assures that customers’ in-flight data travels securely from location to location. It does this by bringing in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to coordinate the creation of encrypted optical wavelengths across the network. The monitoring doesn’t stop there though. The system also oversees the encrypted and non-encrypted circuits, across the network.

“netFLEX software’s wavelength encryption interface addresses a critical need for our client base,” comments Mike Jonas, President Global Customer Operations for LightRiver. “From offering complete managerial access and control, to leveraging the encryption services for our customers’ growing security requirements, the product update provides a range of actions that are vital when establishing a healthy security foundation for networks.”
