Lightower Fiber NetworksLightower Fiber Networks, the premier provider of custom, high-capacity network services that ensure optimal application and business performance, first announced Direct Connect services with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in late 2013. But the company hasn’t stopped there.

Lightower just announced it has broadened its direct connectivity options to AWS’ cloud computing platform. With speeds now ranging from 50 Mbps to 500 Mbps, customers can connect to AWS with secure connections via Lightower’s switched Ethernet services portfolio, in addition to wavelengths and dark fiber.

This new service expansion now enables connectivity at lower bandwidth levels, providing increased cost-effective options to customers.

Lightower provides all-fiber connectivity to the AWS Cloud through Amazon Direct Connect locations located in 32 Avenue of the Americas NY, New York and 21715 Filigree Court in Ashburn, Virginia. The new expanded connectivity options benefit those customers that need to access AWS with less than 1G of connectivity. An added benefit is that customers do not have to establish an incremental cross connect between Lightower and AWS, making it more cost-effective and less complex overall.

“Always striving to enable superior network experiences for our customers, Lightower’s expanded access options open up AWS Direct Connect to a much larger portion of the market,” commented Doug Dalissandro, Chief Revenue Officer for Lightower. “Customers harnessing the power of the AWS cloud combined with the Lightower Network will experience the highest levels of network/cloud performance.”

Combining AWS with the power of Lightower’s Ethernet, wavelength, or dark fiber services, customers can experience the full range of AWS offerings including:

  • Compute Services
  • Storage
  • Content Delivery
  • Database services
  • Deployment & Management
  • Application Services

Lightower’s full Ethernet solutions portfolio includes MetroE Advanced Private Line, E-Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL), and Ethernet Private LAN (E-LAN). The Lightower Network also enables customers to connect to over 175 data centers and over 250 telco hotels and central offices across its footprint.

Lightower is an official Direct Connect & Technology Partner for Amazon Web Services.
