Hibernia Networks has expanded its CDN in Europe by establishing a PoP in Milan, Italy. This marks the fifth new CDN PoP for the telecom services provider, which added presences in Dublin, Prague, Brussels and Toronto earlier in 2016. The new presence will enhance end-user experience for accessing video-on-demand content, file downloads and live streaming services.
Hibernia Networks’ CDN is comprised of a custom and purpose built software solution, leveraging the company’s owned and operated fiber optic infrastructure and global IP backbone. The addition of Milan to Hibernia Networks’ list of CDN PoP locations increases its reach to 27 major cities globally, including 13 in Europe. The expansion of the CDN footprint improves the ability to scale and meet customer demand, which is increasingly important as CDN traffic is expected to carry nearly two-thirds of all internet video traffic by 2020.
“Hibernia Networks is absolutely committed to the continued expansion and development of our Content Services offering. Establishing a local presence in Italy is an important step to more effectively serving this growing market for CDN applications,” states Martin Ford, Vice President Sales at Hibernia Networks. “Online gaming and software distributors, video-on demand and live streaming companies, and enterprises delivering services in Italy will benefit from the flexibility and performance capability of Hibernia Networks’ CDN platform.”
