Hibernia Networks and TrueSpeed today announced a partnership, which will bring ultrafast broadband to Somerset and Wiltshire, UK. The partnership grants TrueSpeed access to the high specification ducting being laid across the region for the new Hibernia Express submarine cable system build. The system will provide a high capacity, low latency fiber path between New York and London, connecting Halifax, Nova Scotia and Brean, UK.
Access to this ducting will allow TrueSpeed to provide local customer with high quality, ultrafast Internet connectivity sooner than previously planned. The new network will bring broadband connectivity to thousands of businesses and homes alone the 77km route, which stretches from Brean to Chippenham.
“This is marvellous news for our area and I commend both Hibernia Networks and TrueSpeed for delivering such a far-sighted arrangement,” said local MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg. ”Our rural communities are in need of better broadband and, through this agreement, TrueSpeed is able to deliver. The goal is to provide all of Northeast Somerset with access to the fastest broadband available, helping our businesses grow. This partnership enables our communities’ access to all the digital age has to offer, now and in the future.”
