Hibernia Networks has added Cork Internet eXchange (CIX) as a new Point of Presence (PoP) on its global network. The PoP further extends Hibernia’s high performance connectivity and international services throughout Southwest Ireland.
Connected to an extensive list of fiber providers, the exchange is responsible for delivering IP connectivity to thousands of businesses and tens of thousands of homes. Hibernia’s PoP affords CIX customers the ability to access Hibernia’s Project Kelvin network. Project Kelvin, an extensive submarine and terrestrial cable deployment that directly connects Northern Ireland to North America, allows for increased communications and next-generation Internet service offerings.
“Hibernia’s presence in CIX further demonstrates our commitment to providing secure, reliable, high performance connectivity throughout the island of Ireland,” states Bjarni Thorvardarson, CEO of Hibernia Networks. “Additionally, the connection allows CIX to further reach Europe, North America and the international marketplace, resulting in increased communications and next-generation Internet service for local and regional businesses.”
